By joining ALGWA, you join an organisation of women who have stood before you and are willing to support you through your journey. ALGWA was first established in 1951 to support women's participation in local government, with the WA Branch forming in 2002. We’ve come a long way in representation since then, but we still have a long way to go. 

As an ALGWA WA member you will:

• Have access to a supportive community of women to bounce ideas off, or discuss issues with, without bias
• Be invited to exclusive events and networking sessions, including regular in-person meet ups and online forums
• Be able to participate in mentoring and leadership development opportunities
• Access to low cost training opportunities to strengthen your skillset 
• Support advocacy positions to promote equality in Local Government 
• Support and encourage other women to step into Local Government as an Officer or Elected Member
• Become an advocate to protect the interests and rights of women in Local Government
